Volume 2, Episode 21: The Love Bunker f/Matt Fraction November 7, 2011

Posted by Matt in : Episodes , trackback

Fear Itself and Casanova writer Matt Fraction becomes our first Five-Timers Club member this week! We ask what he’d like other writers to learn from Fear Itself, what real-life stuff led him to subject matter, that scene from Casanova: Avaritia II, how he celebrated Halloween, how he’s preparing for Christmas (already!), how much visual stuff he puts in his scripts and a ton more! Plus, Matt and Chris become more and more exacerbated while talking about the nonsensical plot of Arkham City (which they both recommend, by the way).

That opening with Matt Fraction might equal Bag of Salt. I burst out laughing in the middle of the library.

Wish I knew about Sims’ panel appearance. I was at the NC Comic Con and would have attended.

Hey Sims, I just found a game Expansion that is right up your alley. Sadly it’s for PS3 open-world superhero-em-up Infamous 2 but basically it is an add-on that adds a storyline wherein them ain character and pretty much everyone else in the city is now Vampires. It looks pretty crazy. At very least worth watching the Quick Look video over at Giant bomb.

This has nothing to do with the recent ep though I did listen to and enjoy it.

I’ve been listening to the old shows in order and got to the Bryan Lee O’Malley ep where you talk about how much you like the manga Detroit Rock City.

I went to amazon to buy it and saw that there was also a live-action movie.

Have you seen it? Is it any good? Should I drop twenty plus bucks on Japanese people dressing up metal and going crazy?

Chris did a CA piece about it a year ago: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/11/17/detroit-metal-city-animated-gifs/

Thanks Matt! I’ve only recently discovered the show so I’ve missed a lot but eventually I’ll catch up and my life will be all the better for it. Batman chucking a battery and South Of The Border alone have replaced that empty spot in my soul.

It’s the closest thing to Shangri-La on earth!

RE: Arkham City (spoilers)

I *think* Azrael’s ominous predictions at the end of that side mission are references to Protocol 10, which makes sense if you found Azrael at the points he appears in the story mode, but doesn’t if you don’t find him until after the story is done (like I did). I don’t think it’s necessarily sequel hunting.

Although goddamn I would love it if it was.
