Thanks to Jarrett for this week’s show poster! Click to enlarge.

It’s 2012, it’s time for Wrestlemania! In anticipation of the biggest professional wrestling event of the year, we welcome Super Pro KO’s Jarrett Williams and Chikara Pro Wrestling commentator Leonard F. Chikarason to the show! Chris and the guys run down all the stuff they’d like to see happen at this year’s showcase of the immortals, and Matt asks some questions from the perspective of someone who hasn’t kept up in a few years. It’s an extravaganza!

Good argument for WW7 does not fit into myth:

It certainly does an excellent job of talking down to/insulting the intelligence of anyone who would think a comic that has been entirely about Greek myth up to now would expect something to hew closely to Greek myth.

The myths of the Amazons and the Sirens are two different things and don’t really have anything in common besides “women”. I don’t think anyone had a problem with the DC Amazons being derived from the parts of myth that described independent warrior women, but combining that with another story and making them seductresses that actually need men but still hate them to the point they go out of their way to kill them seems like an unnecessarily misogynistic adaptation.

Incidentally, Matt’s Rec was thematic as well – Court Bauer, one of the writers on Eastbound and Down, used to run Major League Wrestling and was a writer for WWE.

I haven’t watched wrestling for years, but I do enjoy you guys’ occasional wrestling-themed show.
